As a new mom I have tried MANY products to make my husband’s and my life easier and to obviously see what my daughter likes the most.
Most of the products I love are products that other moms have pushed on me. Word of mouth between moms is powerful and when you discover something incredible, you just want to share the great news with all your mom friends.
I am sure you can imagine that meal time at my house is very important. It is a time to bond with my family for my daughter to explore and learn about flavors, textures and tastes. My daughter (Ayv, rhymes with wave) is now at a stage where she refuses to let me feed her, so EVERYTHING is played with, that being said we have accumulated quite the collection of bibs in our house.
My friend came over a couple of months ago and brought me a gift that has changed my life and my daughters meal time experience. The OXO Tot Roll-up Bib. It’s easy to wash, dries quickly and catches food that drops. I have since given away all my other bibs and only use the OXO bibs on Ayv. After using one at lunch I simply wash it with Ayv’s bottle soup and hang it to dry. It drys so quickly that I can use the same bib for dinner time. The bibs are also great for the environment…you only need a couple and you can just hand wash and hang dry. OXO gave me this product sample, so now I have exrta bibs to pack in all my bags, I feel like such a prepared mom:). Ready for whenever Ayv wants a snack.
Another product that I love from OXO is the OXO Tot Sprout Highchair. Funny enough I also discovered their highchair from another mom friend. Ido and I were on the hunt for the perfect highchair for Ayv. We had one that clipped onto the table but it would just get so filthy after every meal and Ayv’s thighs were getting stuck in the leg holes (my chubby little babe ;). We needed a better chair. I went to my friends apartment the other month and her son was sitting in this really cute highchair… I just had to know what brand it was…and guess what…it was OXO.
Ignore the mess but look at how cute the chair looks in the space!
OXO Tot Sprout Highchair looks high-end but is affordable and and fits nicely with our furniture. Having a highchair that is comfortable AND cute is such a bonus. I didn’t want a big, bulky, tacky highchair in the middle of my apartment. So happy we found this one. There are many different color combinations, we picked a navy blue cushion with black legs.
Now, many of you ask me for recipes for their babes and since I’m writing all about bibs and highchairs, I think it is totally fitting to add a couple recipes to this post.
Sweet potato pancakes with tahini and yogurt
Ingredients-
1 sweet potato
2 eggs
pinch of ground cumin (optional)
pinch of ground cinnamon (optional
pinch of sea salt
unsalted butter for the pan
tahini sauce-
1/2 cup raw tahini
1/4 cup ice water
pinch of sea salt
1 squeeze of lemon juice (optional)
1/4 tsp garlic -finely grated (optional)
plain yogurt (optional)
Directions-
Pre-heat the oven to 450 degrees F
Wash the sweet potatoes and poke holes all over (I use a fork to poke the holes). Place in the hot oven on a sheet tray for 1 hour. You want the sweet potato to get mushy and sweet inside. Let the potato cool and remove the skin. You can also just peel and boil until soft but I love the sweet caramelized flavor you get from roasting.
In a bowl mix together the sweet potato, egg, cumin, cinnamon and a pinch of sea salt.
In another bowl-Mix the tahini with the ice water, lemon juice, garlic and sea salt.
Heat up a non-stick pan and add in the butter. Make small pancakes and let cook on each side for 2 minutes. Serve with tahini sauce and yogurt.
You can serve these pancakes with so many toppings. I also love to spread almond or peanut butter on top 🙂
